He walked on at SMU, earned a scholarship, became a 4-year letterman, 2-year starter, team captain, and was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy — awarded to the nation’s top player who began as a walk-on. No handouts. Just grit, belief, and relentless work. After retiring from football Jackson has continued to explore his limits competing in multiple marathons, triathlons, and HYROX competitions including The 2025 World Championship.
